There is no reason to hurry a trade for Duchene or Landeskog. It would actually be better to wait for the summer anyway.

-More teams can get involved
-Teams will have more flexibility with the cap
-Teams will no longer have to worry about who they'll lose in the expansion draft
-Teams will look to replace players they've lost in the expansion draft and have more
cap space from the players taken
-2018 draft looks better than 2017
-New trade partner that won't have to worry about fan/player loyalty

Sakic should only worry about selling off rentals at this point.
